JOSEPH WASWA FOUNDATION COMMISSIONS SIMALABANDU CATTLE DIP IN MATULO WARD.

The Joseph Waswa Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to grassroots development with the successful launch and handover of the Simalabandu Cattle Dip facility in Matulo Ward, Webuye West Sub-County.
The project, fully initiated and implemented by the Foundation, marks a major milestone in improving livestock health, boosting farmer productivity, and strengthening community livelihoods in the region.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Mr Joseph Waswa, the Foundation’s Patron, emphasized that the initiative reflects the Foundation’s mission to deliver sustainable, people-centered solutions.
> “This project represents our belief that true empowerment begins when communities have the tools to secure their livelihoods. The Simalabandu Cattle Dip will not only control livestock diseases but also safeguard the economic wellbeing of our farmers,” said Hon. Waswa.
The event attracted hundreds of residents, local leaders, and agricultural stakeholders. Farmers were taken through live demonstrations on dip usage and animal disease control by county veterinary officers, ensuring they are equipped with practical knowledge for effective management.
Joseph Waswa Foundation’s Programs Director, Mr. Isaac Wanjekeche, lauded the community for their cooperation and urged them to take full ownership of the facility.
> “The Foundation has done its part in reviving and equipping this cattle dip. It is now upon the community to protect and utilize it for the benefit of all farmers in Matulo,” he said.
Local leaders, including Matulo MCA Hon. Steve Kaiser, and county livestock and veterinary officers, commended the Foundation for its timely intervention, noting that livestock farmers had suffered significant losses due to tick-borne diseases such as East Coast Fever.
> “The Foundation’s action is a lifeline for our farmers. Many had lost their animals, but this facility restores hope,” remarked one resident during the ceremony.
To ensure sustainability, a community committee was formally constituted to oversee the operation and maintenance of the cattle dip.
The Joseph Waswa Foundation continues to champion rural transformation through targeted interventions in agriculture, education, and health. The Simalabandu project adds to the growing list of initiatives that are delivering real impact at the grassroots.
> “Our focus is to create solutions that last — solutions that improve lives and strengthen our communities,” . Mr. Waswa concluded.
This is the second cattle dip project to be revived . Five more are lined up for upgrade.
