The partnership between the Joseph Waswa Foundation (JWF) and the Walkabout Foundation continues to grow stronger, bringing renewed hope and mobility to persons living with disabilities across Kenya.

In the latest phase of the joint initiative, 31 beneficiaries have received assistive devices and medical wheelchairs following successful medical assessments conducted at the Walkabout Rehabilitation Centre in Nanyuki. This marks the second batch of beneficiaries under the partnership, underscoring the two organizations’ shared commitment to improving the quality of life for vulnerable groups.

Among the beneficiaries are children living with cerebral palsy, many of whom are fully dependent on assistive devices to manage their day-to-day lives. For their parents and caregivers, these wheelchairs are more than medical equipment; they represent dignity, inclusion, and a chance for children to experience the world beyond the confines of their homes.

Mr. Isaac Wanjekeche, the Programmes Director at the Joseph Waswa Foundation, who led the coordination of the Nanyuki assessment and logistics, hailed the partnership as a life-changing collaboration that continues to restore dignity to families.

“β€œWe are deeply grateful for the continued partnership with the Walkabout Foundation. Every wheelchair we deliver is a story of renewed hope and restored independence. These devices go beyond mobility; they give our beneficiaries a chance to live, learn, and dream again,”” said Mr. Wanjekeche.

The Walkabout Foundation, known globally for its work in providing custom-fitted wheelchairs and rehabilitation support, has been instrumental in ensuring that beneficiaries receive devices that match their medical and physical needs.

Through the partnership, JWF identifies and mobilizes persons with disabilities from the grassroots, especially from Bungoma and surrounding counties, for assessment and fitting at Walkabout’s Nanyuki Centre.

The initiative not only restores mobility but also fosters social inclusion, independence, and equal opportunity for persons with disabilities, key values at the heart of both organizations.

As the partnership continues to expand, the Joseph Waswa Foundation has pledged to reach even more beneficiaries in the coming months, reinforcing its mission of uplifting lives through compassion, care, and collaboration.
