JW Foundation Cup 2025 set to kick off with record breaking participation

The highly anticipated Joseph Waswa Foundation Cup is gearing up for its second edition, promising to be more thrilling than ever. Scheduled to kick off on August 30th, the tournament has attracted an unprecedented number of teams, with over 40 squads registering to compete for the coveted title.

This year’s edition is shaping up to be the most competitive yet, with a significant increase in the prize money for the winner. The champions will walk away with a whopping Ksh 500,000, a substantial jump from the Ksh 300,000 offered in the inaugural edition.

In a bid to ensure a smooth and fair tournament, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) officials have emphasized the importance of adhering to FIFA rules. Following a meeting with coaches and club officials, stringent measures have been put in place to guarantee a competitive and sportsmanlike tournament.

SitikhΓ³ Ward has been confirmed as the host of the launch, adding to the excitement building up to the tournament. According to Isaac Wanjekeche, the foundation’s Programmes Director, the event promises to be an electrifying experience for fans and participants alike.

As the countdown to the tournament begins, teams are expected to bring their A-game, and fans are eagerly anticipating the thrilling matches that will unfold. With its growing popularity and commitment to promoting football talent, the Joseph Waswa Foundation Cup is set to become a highlight of the sporting calendar in the region.

“The finals are expected to be played at the end of the year ” , added Wanjekeche.
