PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES RECEIVE SPECIAL WHEELCHAIRS
18 Beneficiaries Receive Special Wheelchairs .
Webuye, Kenya – Date: 18th July 2025
The Joseph Waswa Foundation is proud to announce the successful donation of 18 specially designed wheelchairs to persons living with disabilities .
This impactful initiative is part of the Foundation’s continued commitment to empowering the differently-abled and restoring dignity through enhanced mobility.
The wheelchairs, which were distributed free of charge, are a result of a meaningful partnership with Walkabout Foundation and Free Wheelchair Mission—two global organizations devoted to supporting the mobility needs of the most vulnerable.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, the Foundation’s Programmes Director emphasized that the process of identifying and assessing beneficiaries was thorough, inclusive, and community-driven, ensuring that each recipient received the right kind of wheelchair based on their specific medical and physical needs.
“Mobility is more than movement—it is about independence, dignity, and the ability to participate in daily life. Today, we are not just giving out wheelchairs; we are restoring hope,” said the Programmes Director Isaac Wanjekeche.
JW Foundation Director Joseph Waswa was present to receive the first cohort of beneficiaries and asked the community to bring forth needy cases for assistance.
“Do not hide at home or be ashamed of disabilities. Bring them out to us for assistive device intervention “, said Mr Waswa.
Beneficiaries and their families expressed deep gratitude to the Foundation, terming the donation as life-changing. For many, this was the first time they had access to a properly fitted wheelchair, allowing them to move freely, attend school, engage in business, or simply enjoy social interaction with ease.
This initiative adds to the Foundation’s growing portfolio of social impact programs aimed at uplifting vulnerable communities in Bungoma County and beyond. The Joseph Waswa Foundation remains steadfast in its mission to serve with compassion, champion inclusion, and break barriers.
